How To Eat When Your Out With The Girls

I know how tough it is to go out and eat with the girls when your trying to eat correctly and better yourself. I’m here today to tell you that you don’t have to choose any more, because there are different ways we can do both!

Portion Control before beginning the meal: It’s pretty easy to scarf down a whole plate of food that you weren’t even hungry enough to finish. Self-control is one of the hardest things to accomplish especially when at a restaurant. An easy way to get around this is ordering a to go box when ordering your meal. When the food arrives, put half of the food in the box and eat the remaining half. You’ll be surprised as to how full you really are! Another way is order half portions or split the meal with a friend. I sometimes choose appetizers as my meal , do to there portion sizes.

Order dressing and condiments on the side: Some of us may go the healthy route and order a salad at a restaurant. However, a restaurant can make a salad as unhealthy as a plate of buffalo chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. The key importance to ordering sauces on the side is it gives you the ability to use as much as you like. I often choose to get vinegar over Caesar and Ranch and I request it on the side of the salad.

Water is the way to go: Treating yourself at a restaurant is very tricky. Sometimes we treat ourselves in every part of the meal. We’ll order a coca cola, a cheeseburger with fries and an ice cream sundae. Remember to have a good give and take relationship with being healthy, you don’t need to be perfect. Ordering water as a beverage is great because there is no limit to how much you can drink. There’s no stress about ordering refills plus it provides as a great appetite suppressor so you don’t eat more than you really need.

Evil Sides: Most side dishes are usually fried or covered in an unhealthy sauce. Always think healthy before eating. Choose them wisely by going with the simplest option. Make them a soup or salad.

Not all healthy foods are healthy at a restaurant: Most restaurants double the normal portion of food someone should eat when dining out. However, this adds unnecessary calories to your meal. Also an appetizer like a baked potato could be smothered in cheese, sour cream and bacon bits and would defeat the purpose of a healthy meal. Eating healthy will provide you with the energy you need to complete your in home personal training session
